Privacy Policy
The short version
Naamdhun works entirely on your phone. It has no account, no advertising, no analytics and no internet permission. Nothing you do in the app is sent to us or to anyone else.
What the app stores on your phone
- Your counts, daily history, streaks and sankalp goals.
- Your settings (chosen naam, voice, skin, mala size, targets).
- A background photo, if you pick one from your gallery.
- Voice recordings and audio files you add for your own japas or with "Use my voice".
- For Listen (counting by voice): for each naam you teach, a small pattern of how you say it — numbers, a few kilobytes, not a sound recording. With "Learn from my chanting" on (Settings › Listen), up to 25 more such patterns from your own chanting are kept, so the counter follows your voice.
All of this lives in the app's private storage on your device. It is removed when you uninstall the app or use "Erase all statistics" inside it.
Permissions
- Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): requested only when you press Record, or when you first turn on Listen. Recordings you make are saved on your phone and never uploaded. While Listen is on, the sound is examined on your phone as it arrives, to recognise the naam; it is never recorded, never kept as audio and never sent anywhere. The microphone closes when you stop Listen or leave the counter. The speech model that recognises the naam is built into the app and runs offline; nothing is sent to Google or anyone else.
- Vibrate: a light pulse on each count.
- The app does not request internet, location, contacts, camera or storage permissions.
Backups
If Android's own device backup is switched on, Android may copy the app's counts and settings to your Google account as part of your phone backup. That is Google's service under Google's terms; the app does not run any backup of its own. Your own recordings and the Listen voice patterns are excluded from that cloud backup; a direct transfer from your old phone to a new one can still carry them.
Children
The app is for general audiences and collects no personal data from anyone.
Changes
If a future version adds anything that collects data (for example optional crash reports), this page and the app's About screen will say so before it ships.
